The king is gone
A downloadable game for Windows, Linux, and Android
Description
In this game, you have to run away. Different doors are blocking the way, that need to be unlocked to proceed as fast as possible. Each door will give a different benefit, and a combination of them is the key to succeed .. or fail.
To open a door, a puzzle is presented, where pieces of a key have to be rotated and merged together to open the door. The further you run, the more difficult the key puzzles become.
There are three different modes:
- Normal Mode: Score is increasing the more you survive. It decreases the
more you stay idle in a room without picking a door. There's a set amount of rooms to complete before reaching the end. - Endless Mode: Score increases with each room that is completed. There is no end to the amount of rooms presented.
- Random Mode: Each door has a specific score as a reward when opened. Rooms and their rewards spawn at random.
The available benefits from the doors are:
- Green doors: Increase running speed.
- Purple doors: Increase lock-picking skills, which makes opening new doors easier.
- Blue doors: Gives extra chances before losing.
- Brown doors provide no direct benefit, apart from helping complete more rooms.

The game was real cool, may have to buy the full version sometime even and give it another go in the future =) glad to do a revisit in it and keep up the great work! Your game is first in the video!
Hi i played your game it was fun and different (in a good way) it is not the type of game you see every day. I enjoyed playing it at first i didn't know why the purple border kept closing in then the game over screen appeared. I was unsure on why i lost. The music and graphics style was really cool. Good game!
Hey! I played your game and here is the link to it!:https://www.twitch.tv/videos/767659193?t=00h00m58s
Hope the feedback helped! And yes, please let me know how the feedback session was! I would be more than happy to hear your thoughts about! Cheers, Good Work! And Happy Game Dev! :D
Hi Backslap Studios,
Thanks for the feedback! There are a few things I was aware that need to improve, but your video gave me a more clear idea of what areas need more attention.
Thanks for trying the game out, I appreciate it!
hi
is it ok to make somethign thats not a game
its just like
a discussion board

is that fine?

i just wondering

The game is quite fun! Intense lock-picking game :DD
Quit a good game, I was happy to play it!
Hey there
i played your game and it was a great experience
however in the start i couldnt figure out properly what to do (and had to do trial and error lol)
the visuals and graphics are pretty good
but i recommend you to add a tutorial option so that the players can know each and every possible thing and what to do
and also make the player die time a bit more than normal as the players actually need time to understand what to do and you can then gradually increase the difficulty.
But the overall mechanism of the game was very good and its in alpha so you have a lot of time to implement these things and fix the bugs
my highest score was 115 lol
heres the video, if you like it then dont forget to subscribe both the channels and like the video to watch more content like this and also get notified when a new video is uploaded
(and you can recommend more games if you would like to :))
video:
have fun :D
Hi AgentXMan,
Thanks for the feedback and the video! Your ideas are really helpful, and it gives me a better view of how to make the game more approachable. I really enjoyed the video :)
Thanks
Fun little puzzle game =D unfortunately, my usual recording software didn't like it as much so I had to rely on a secondary recording software which doesnt like my current microphone. Long story short, my sound quality suffered a little but still had great fun with it. The game would capture my mouse and when I tried to click in the usual recording software it got stuck in the center haha. Loved it though and definitely following and look forward to more!

Hi Grimbag,
Thanks for trying the game out! The video is really fun to watch.
I will agree one of the things I plan to work on is capturing the mouse only when the game is focused. Sorry this has caused issues with the recording, hope it wasn’t too troublesome to work with!
nah I didnt struggle for too long and handicap captured it immediately so it all went well haha
Hey. I just played your demo. I love it. However, It took me a while to understand what exactly I have to do. Also, I still do not know why I lose there. I do not see any timers or hp bars. The exact idea of the game is fantastic. I would suggest adding some upgradable items or lockpicks that would brake. Checkpoints would be similarly useful. I hope to see updated versions of the game in the future. I recorded how I played your game on the video. You can check it below. If you want me to delete the video, let me know. However, if you like the video, I make videos for such developers like you every day. I will be happy if you subscribe. Also, if you want me to play your games in the future, please tell me. I will be glad to play them and make videos about them.
Hi vladyslu,
Thanks for the video! I enjoyed watching it. A lot of the things you’ve mentioned are things I plan to fix, but it was really useful looking at how a new user approaches the game and how to best communicate aspects of it.
You also mentioned a few things that sounded like very good ideas that I will consider before the first stable release of the game.
